Superfluid has been live on Optimism since March 2022 and on Base since July 2023. The protocol has been empowering builders with a crypto-native financial primitive, money streaming, and a modular smart contracts framework to build applications that leverage a formula-based balance and gasless value transfer.

To date 31,769 streams have been started on Optimism and 577,985 on Base for a combined total volume of $170M.

Over 850 projects have been built on Superfluid Protocol so far, below we highlight a selection of them that we believe already had a positive impact on these two networks and could enable further value creation in the long term.

**Streaming Quadratic Funding (SQF) by Geoweb & Gitcoin**\
Geoweb together with Gitcoin developed an [evolved quadratic funding model](https://x.com/thegeoweb/status/1760320354394771577), called "Streaming Quadratic Funding" (SQF), where donations can be streamed in real-time to recipients and quadratic funding is matched to ongoing donations based on the streams flow-rate.

**Recurring Donations by Giveth**\
Giveth has recently launched [Recurring Donations](https://x.com/Giveth/status/1793235885812510869), a new feature that makes funding sustainable for public goods and web3 projects by leveraging Superfluid streams as ongoing funding infrastructure. Live on Optimism.

**Vrbs Grants by 1Hive**\
In [Vrbs grants](https://x.com/rocketman_w/status/1791189768643997765) builders earn a constant stream of funding every second proportional to the number of votes they receive.

**Fractal Visions Community Grants**\
The QF Matching Pool for Mission #1 of [Fractal Visions Community Grants](https://x.com/FVPGFeth/status/1794838729586299254) is being distributed to the grantees via Superfluid streams.

**Anotherblock**\
The team behind Rihanna's BBHMM NFT drop has been using Superfluid to [automate rewards distribution](https://x.com/Superfluid_HQ/status/1626306359745564674) to their music NFT holders.

**AdLands**\
AdLands makes [advertising space](https://x.com/adlandspace/status/1780974626539208794) on Farcaster available for rental via an ongoing subscription streamed via Superfluid.

**Creator Subscriptions by MadFi**\
MadFi enabled creators on Lens Protocol to [receive crypto subscriptions](https://x.com/madfiprotocol/status/1694337991899058558) via Superfluid streams and offer exclusive content for their top fans.

**ChannelX**\
ChannelX makes [Farcaster channels subscription-only](https://warpcast.com/heyshubh/0xc402bff8), users need to pay a subscription via Superfluid streams to cast in gated channels.

**AlfaFrens**\
The new SocialFi app built on Base leverages Superfluid's Distribution Pools to enable paid chat [access to creators](https://warpcast.com/alfafrens) while providing a cashback to all subscribers.

Superfluid Protocol has also been used by the Optimism Foundation to [stream RPGF3 grants](https://x.com/Superfluid_HQ/status/1758094379976437934), and will be used again in the upcoming RPGF4 round, providing the rails for a seamless funds distribution.

It's refreshing to see so much innovation in the grants distribution space. The industry seems to be getting closer and closer to making public goods sustainable day by day.

How Superfluid Protocol is Empowering Onchain Builders

We are excited to announce that we have raised a $5.1M strategic round led by Fabric Ventures with participation from Multicoin Capital, IOSG Ventures, Circle Ventures, Safe Foundation, WAGMI Ventures, Eterna Capital, Veris Ventures, Skyland Ventures and Hyperithm. Notable angel investors also include The LAO, Bernardo Bilotta, Alex Van De Sande, Kartik Talwar, and Taavet+Sten. This round brings the company's total financing to date to $14.1M. The new funds will be used to support Superfluid's growing developer ecosystem, expand the core team, and launch Distribution Pools.

Superfluid Protocol has recently reached a total of $150M in volume transferred, hitting $1.5M in daily volume this week.

In addition to raising the new funds, we have recently announced [Distribution Pools](https://x.com/Superfluid_HQ/status/1758524506531078409?s=20). Distribution Pools give developers a powerful tool to program one-to-many streams that easily scale to up to millions of recipients in real time. Developers can program Distribution Pool streams for a variety of use-cases, including dynamic revenue sharing, continuous token rewards, grant payouts, and programmable airdrops.

In December 2023, ENS DAO held an open procurement process and selected Superfluid to [distribute](https://twitter.com/ensdomains/status/1756000659353325660) $5.4M in developer grants. Optimism also [selected](https://www.superfluid.finance/post/optimism-selects-superfluid-for-rpgf3-grants-streaming) Superfluid to distribute 30M OP tokens (approximately $110M USD) of their Retroactive Public Goods Funding (RPGF), which are being distributed to over 500 leading projects and individuals in the web3 industry instantly onboarding them as Superfluid users.

Gitcoin's Allo Protocol, an open-source funding protocol, and Geoweb, a public-good inspired AR metaverse, are [leveraging](https://x.com/Superfluid_HQ/status/1760331271992205365?s=20) Superfluid Distribution Pools to develop Streaming Quadratic Funding, a new public goods funding mechanism. A paradigm shift from one-off funding to continuous and real-time funding, dynamically allocated over time through the democratizing quadratic functions pioneered by Gitcoin. Funding allocations can now be tied to project progress and change based on the milestones achieved.

Superfluid Secures $5.1M To Boost Growth

Retroactive Public Goods Funding (RPGF) grants reward builders and creators that develop infrastructure, tooling, and content that empowers the Optimism ecosystem and network. The web3 community has highlighted how the RPGF program is one of the most successful, impactful and emulated grants distribution programs in the industry.

So far three rounds of grants were distributed by Optimism to contributors: Round 1 awarded 58 projects with a total of $1M in funding, Round 2 saw 195 projects receive $30M in grants and this latest Round 3 is rewarding 501 projects with over $110M in OP tokens. The recipients of these grants are some of the leading projects in the web3 industry that have substantially contributed to the growth and enhancement of the Optimism network. We are delighted to provide the infrastructure through which they are receiving these grants.

The Optimism team was looking for a way to limit the token price impact of this large distribution (30M OP tokens). With one-off grants payouts at scale, a significant portion of the grants could have been sold on exchanges in a short time negatively affecting the token price. By streaming the funding over 90 days with Superfluid streams this risk is mitigated while funding can also be halted if necessary.

Another key factor in Optimism's team decision when opting for Superfluid was the smooth Dashboard UI that users can access to monitor and manage their incoming funds. Thanks to the unique composability of Superfluid Protocol, grants recipients can forward their incoming funding stream to their project team members. Superfluid streams can be split and forwarded on custom amounts to an unlimited number of follow-on recipients.\
For example, the RPGF3 Treasury wallet is streaming to a RPGF3 Distribution wallet that splits the incoming streams over to all recipients, and from there funds are flowing on to team members wallets that can forward their stream on to other wallets or applications as they please.
